...the coldest is behind us is bogus.
Motivation reserves depleted, captain - we exhausted them going full steam for 26 pages the week following spring break. Navigation gear's out and distractions is minefields at our feets.
- me, now

- Icarus (2010) Dolph Lundgren is OLD, this is a poor man's Taken. Pass.
- The Protector (2005) My favorite of the films Tony Jaa's done so far, it's in between the feral first and art-piece second Ong Bak movies. Its introduction is the history of the Muay Thai tradition; warfaring Thai kings rode elephants into battle and Jaturungkabart fought right alongside, protecting the elephants' legs and vulnerable underbelly. This movie is like watching Bruce from Tekken waltz through the Streets of Rage (SEGA!), especially in the bottom-to-top action sequence in the bad-guy HQ. Jaa's character - Kham - travels from Thailand to Sydney, where he punches his way through its seedy underworld in a quest to find elephants stolen from his family. He tucks and rolls into a wide variety of stunts with innumerable, faceless henchmen, and on separate occasions goes toe-to-toe with dozens of kids hopped up on Mountain Dew and a small pack of 7ft. ogres. I like that the action's never static, that the movements on-screen constantly draw your attention in different directions. Also noticed practical Capoeira use, good stuff.
